How old should readers be?
There is no foul or sexual language in the book, but the main character does explicitly wish for a penis. If you are comfortable with a brief reference to male genitals, then your child is old enough to read it or have it read to them.

Absolutely! Many adults have read, enjoyed, and learned from the story. It's funny and touching, but it also explains a lot about what it's like to be transgender.
